The Department of Commerce is the oldest departments of Mar Baselios College which started in 2003.The department offers B.Com computer application courses since 2003 and it was elevated as P.G department in 2009.Currently the department offers three programmes viz., B.Com (Computer Application), B.Com (Finance and Taxation)and M.Com(Finance and Taxation).Since its inception the department has contributed substantially to the development of commerce education in Kerala especially in Idukki district. The department creates a stimulating environment for the academic growth of its students .Apart from the curricular activities the department provides an environment to improve their professional expertise, work ethics and leadership skills.The department has faculty strength of 11 and it is the biggest department in the college.
An association of commerce students under guidance of faculty is functioning under the department .The association is intended to provide a common platform to the commerce students in developing their curricular activities .
